The Alzheimer’s Disease Association (ADA) was formed in 1990 as a result of growing concern for the needs of people with dementia and their families. It is a registered charity and a member of the National Council of Social Service, an umbrella body for the non-profit social service organizations in Singapore.

The mission of ADA is to provide quality care for people with dementia and caregivers, promote research and programmes for dementia prevention.

Over the past 16 years ADA has expanded its services to include:
Dementia Day Care Centres: ADA piloted the 1st Dementia Day Care Centre in Singapore in 1990. It runs 3 of such Centres called the New Horizon Centres.
Caregiver Support Service: A Helpline provides information and referral and counseling service; Caregiver Support Groups are conducted in 3 languages (English, Mandarin and Malay); Caregiver Training sessions are organised for family caregivers and domestic helpers in English, Mandarin and Malay.
Training for professional caregivers in dementia care: practical attachments at the New Horizon Centres for nursing, medical, social work and psychology students and staff members.
Public Education programmes: Creating awareness of dementia through public talks, workshops, forums, exhibitions, dissemination of printed materials and the media.
Advocacy: Responding to issues on dementia and caregiving through networks, the media and representation on Committees.
Research through the conduct and support of research in line with the mission of the Association.
